The project is called The Movie Title Stills Collection and each entry has a convenient little link to the film’s Amazon page. How thoughtful.

Stan the Statue

Never knew Joe Poznanski loved Stan Musial so much. Of course, who doesn’t? He’s darn near the most likeable guys to have ever played the game.

Stan Musial. Only one vote for Stan the Man. I think it’s amazing and a little sad how underrated Stan Musial was as a player and as an icon. I have mentioned before on this site that I would love to write a book about him and this idea of the ultimate ballplayer, but Stan has politely asked me not to. Which, in a way, only makes me admire him more.

Here’s a short list of Poz articles on The Man (all of which contain wonderful statistical tidbits):

Thanks to Rob Neyer’s internet scanning abilities, I’ve been given access to the world of Flip Fly Ball.

The site is an amazing intersection for information graphics and baseball. And that’s before you even get the fun, pixelated renderings of a handful of players and a flickr page full of ballpark photos.

(Most of the content is from around 2005/6, but who cares.)
